Richard O’Kelly says Dean Smith will push the Aston Villa players

Dean Smith is the new Aston Villa manager.

Aston Villa assistant head coach Richard O’Kelly has told the club’s official website that new head coach Dean Smith will push the players.

Smith has recently been appointed as the new Villa head coach, with O’Kelly brought in as his assistant alongside John Terry, having worked with the 47-year-old at Walsall and Brentford.

O’Kelly told Villa’s official website about Smith: “He’s certainly that type of character. He will push the players. He will push the staff. He’s a good person to work with.”

Encouraging for Aston Villa fans

Smith did a brilliant job at Brentford, and Villa fans will be looking forward to him starting at Villa Park.

The 47-year-old is a very good manager who knows the Championship inside out, and with the Villans still very much in the running for the playoffs, the Villa Park faithful will be optimistic about the coming weeks and months.

Villa have a number of good players, but the team are underperforming at the moment, and O’Kelly’s comments about Smith seem to suggest that he is the right man for the Villa Park managerial role.

The Villans are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 15 points from 12 matches.

Villa will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Swansea City at Villa Park in the Championship.
