Richard Naylor said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, September 23, 2016) that Leeds United can push for a top-six finish in the Championship this season.

Leeds have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and has become also-rans in the Championship over the last few years.

The West Yorkshire outfit did not make a strong start to the 2016-17 campaign, but they are in good form at the moment.

The Whites’ objective this season, as in previous years, is to finish in the top six and stand a chance of getting promoted to the Premier League.

Former Leeds player Naylor, who is 39 years of age, believes that Garry Monk’s side will certainly be pushing for promotion this season.

“Yes, definitely I think they will be up there,” said Naylor on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, September 23, 2016) when asked if Leeds could be a title-chasing team this season.

“I definitely think they will be up there. I think they have got a good manager. He has recruited really well, which is the most important thing any manager can do.”

Leeds are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 10 points from eight matches.

The West Yorkshire outfit will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Ipswich Town at Elland Road in the league.

The Whites will head into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road in the third round of the EFL Cup.
