Aaron Lennon was unable to stop Everton from falling to a 4-1 defeat to Southampton.

Richard Keys has humiliated Everton winger Aaron Lennon on Twitter, by suggesting that the crossbar touched the ball on more occasions than him.

Both Gylfi Sigurdsson and Charlie Austin hit the woodwork in the process of scoring goals for their respective sides.

And Keys felt that the crossbar was far more involved than Everton’s Lennon, who struggled to have any impact on the contest.

Everton were beaten 4-1 by Southampton earlier today, as they suffered yet another humbling defeat.

The Toffees were simply abject, as the Saints turned them over in comfortable fashion.

Southampton took the lead through Dusan Tadic, and although Gyfli Sigurdsson fired the Toffees back on level terms, it was not enough.

Southampton scored three goals in the second half to pick up the three points, and heap further pressure on the Everton squad.

Everton are now in 16th place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against West Ham United in midweek.
