Well, Newcastle United are seemingly back to square one after this afternoon.
Newcastle suffered a 4-0 defeat away to Leicester City in the Premier League.
The Magpies’ 1-0 win over Burnley last week – their first victory of the season – renewed some optimism that Eddie Howe could actually lead United to safety.
And although the 43-year-old manager still may potentially achieve that, good lord it’s going to be difficult.
Because, honestly, Newcastle just aren’t very good and each of them, to a man, was relatively poor at the King Power Stadium.
Howe’s side celebrated the Burnley win by posing for a team photograph in the dressing room at St James’s Park last week and, well, you could imagine that wasn’t a popular decision among supporters.
Remember, that was their first victory in 15 Premier League games, but it’s come back to haunt the players because here’s what Richard Keys has posted on Twitter.
Absolutely brutal
Simply put, the temerity from the former Sky Sports presenter is unrivalled.
It’s no secret that he isn’t Newcastle United’s biggest supporter, nor will he ever be, but he really picks his moments to take a swipe at the St James’s Park club.
On the pitch, the Magpies remain in the relegation zone but, thankfully, the deficit between them and safety remains three points after Watford also lost during the weekend.
