This isn’t the time, Richard.
Leeds United announced this morning that they have sacked their hugely-popular manager Marcelo Bielsa.
The Elland Road outfit are only two points clear of the relegation zone and having conceded 20 Premier League goals in their last five matches under the Argentine, a heartbreaking decision has been made.
Bielsa was enormously popular at the West Yorkshire outfit after guiding them to Premier League promotion in 2020, ending their 16-year exile from the top flight.
Not only that, but the 66-year-old contrived to help Leeds secure a ninth-placed finish on their return to the big time last season.
Henry Winter revealed that people at Thorp Arch and Elland Road are ‘heartbroken’ over the decision.
Which is why it isn’t the time for former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys to tweet about how he right he was about Bielsa.
Following a 6-0 defeat at Liverpool in midweek, Keys was active on Twitter and posting about the South American coach couldn’t possibly survive.
And he was ultimately correct, but it wouldn’t have taken a genius to work out that Bielsa was in serious trouble.
However, gloating about it, when there’s a lot of Leeds supporters genuinely devastated to lose him, is a little insensitive from Keys and undeserving of the sort of triumphalism that he feels entitled to after such a basic prediction.
