Richard Keys comments on Everton’s woes.
Richard Keys has written on his blog that there is something “deeply wrong” at Everton.
Everton looked on course for a 1-0 defeat at Brighton on Sunday but Wayne Rooney rescued the Toffees with a last-minute penalty.
Ronald Koeman’s side have won only one of their last seven Premier League games – a 2-1 win at home to Bournemouth – and the Dutchman is clearly struggling to get the best out of his side this season.
The Goodison Park club spent close to £200 million in the summer transfer window but for whatever reason it hasn’t quite worked for Koeman and co as of yet.
Considering their spending, the consensus was that Everton were going to challenge for a Champions League spot, but they are already seven points off the pace in that regard and the gap is only going to get wider unless a drastic change in fortunes occurs.
“I don’t think Everton’s scrambled draw at Brighton hides their problems. They look scared. Their is something deeply wrong at Goodison at the moment,” the former Sky Sports presenter wrote on his blog.
“On reflection perhaps they were never going to be good enough for the top 4, but they should be challenging for the top 6. Where they are simply isn’t good enough.”
