Richard Keys has said on Twitter that Harry Kane and Dele Alli were the perpetrators of “horrible challenges” in Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday.
Tottenham were put to the sword by a ruthless City side who picked up a 16th successive Premier League win.
Kane and Alli were spectators for most of the game and both were booked in the second half for reckless, late tackles on Leroy Sane and Kevin de Bruyne respectively.
Replays show that referee Craig Pawson would have been vindicated in doling red cards for both, and former Sky Sports host Keys says the duo should have gone.
Ilkay Gundogan’s first-half header gave City a 1-0 half-time lead, before goals from De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, either side of a botched Gabriel Jesus penalty, gave them a commanding advantage.
Sterling capitalised on some poor defending and poor goalkeeping late on to roll a fourth into an empty net, before Christian Eriksen drilled a late consolation past Ederson from outside the box.
Consequence of the defeat, Tottenham are seventh in the Premier League, 21 points behind Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
