There aren’t many players across English football that are disliked as much as Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.
Sometimes his mannerisms on the field of play annoy supporters and it seems to have done the trick again.
Richard Keys mocked the Portugal international during Manchester United’s incredible 4-3 FA Cup win against Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford and the part he played in Mohamed Salah’s goal in the first half.
Bruno Fernandes was calling for a foul in the build-up after a challenge from Joe Gomez, with Liverpool’s goal machine then going on to put his team into a 2-1 lead heading into the half-time break of normal time.
But Richard Keys felt it wasn’t a foul on the Manchester United captain by stating ‘he is always on his backside’, as he told beIN SPORTS (17/03/24 at 4:25 pm).
In truth, the player himself is probably lucky not to receive two yellows during the game because he was walking a tightrope whilst on a yellow card.
In the end, Bruno Fernandes was playing absolutely everywhere, including in defence, as Amad Diallo scored one of the most dramatic winners in Manchester United’s recent history.

“I think it might be a case here of know your players,” said Keys. “Fernandes is always on his backside.
“I think he (Gomez) wins the ball. I don’t think it’s a foul.”

Yes, on many occasions, the defence is letting up too many shots. The Premier League form isn’t what it should be.
But back-to-back trophies when things don’t seem settled is still a very positive sign and indicator that, with patience, the best days are ahead.
