Derby County captain Richard Keogh believes the club are back on track following a poor start to the season under Nigel Pearson.

Derby County have experienced a turbulent start to their 2016/17 campaign, with just two wins from their first 11 games leaving them down in 20th when many people were initially tipping them for promotion.
However, following the departure of Nigel Pearson things seem to be on the up once again at the iPro Stadium. As reported by Derby Telegraph, captain Richard Keogh has said that the club are back on track after such a surprising first few months of the season.
With four points from their last two games in the wake of Pearson’s exit, there is reason to be positive for Derby fans who just a few weeks ago would have already been thinking about the worst case scenario.
“We’ve picked up – and I think the last two performances have been our best so far this season,” said the Republic of Ireland international.

“We still need to tweak a few things but we’re gaining confidence again – and we were a team that was lacking a bit of confidence, to be honest.
“We were obviously going through a sticky patch. It was there for everyone to see.
“But to come out of two tricky away games with four points – and it should have been six points – shows we are definitely on the right track.”

Derby have constantly been tipped for promotion over the last few years following the emergence of their high quality squad. The closest they came was a heartbreaking 1-0 loss against Queens Park Rangers in the play-off final, which Keogh in particular will want to forget as it was his error that led to the goal.
The Rams will aim to continue their resurgence when they face Leeds United after the international break.
