Everton have been heavily linked with Watford boss Marco Silva, and Richard Dunne has urged them to step up their pursuit.
It has been more than three weeks since the Toffees parted company with Ronald Koeman after their poor start to the season, but they look set to go into the weekend with caretaker boss David Unsworth still in charge having seemingly made little progress in their search.
Silva appears to be the favoured candidate right now, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Toffees have already made two approaches for the Portuguese, the second of which would have seen Everton pay £8.5 million if they agreed a deal with the Hornets.
But with Watford playing hardball, Dunne – who began his professional career at Goodison Park – has insisted that the Merseyside outfit just need to get something sorted and should be willing to pay whatever Watford want.
“I think if they want Silva from Watford, they should pay whatever is needed to be paid and try and get it done because the performances haven’t been good enough this season, they need to turn it around quicker.”
Despite winning their most recent game, it is surely fair to say that they have not looked convincing since Unsworth took charge and they still find themselves in a precarious position.
And with the Christmas period seeing games come thick and fast, not finding their new manager could perhaps prove costly as they could quickly find themselves back in trouble.
