Tottenham Hotspur have recently been linked with a move for Ricardo Rodriguez, but his agent has played down the rumours.

Ricardo Rodriguez’s agent has told Gianluca Di Marzio that his client has received no contact from Tottenham regarding a potential move this summer but did suggest that there is interest from England.

Tutto Mercato Web reported earlier this week that Spurs are interested in the Switzerland international – who featured in his country’s recent World Cup exit at the hands of Sweden – as Mauricio Pochettino seems to look his bolster his defensive options after another encouraging campaign.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the more impressive left-backs across the continent during his spells with Wolfsburg and AC Milan, and some may perhaps be expecting him to leave San Siro after just one year this summer with the Rossoneri missing out on securing European football for next season.

However, Gianluca Di Domenico insisted that Spurs are yet to make a move for the defender, but hinted that there is Premier League interest in his client this summer.

”The rumours about Tottenham? There’s no truth to them, we haven’t had any contacts with them: if in next few weeks Tottenham call we can discuss it, but as of now that is not the case. I’m not sure why it was written, often things are invented concerning Ricardo’s future,” he told Gianluca Di Marzio.

“I can confirm there’s interest from English clubs, and that is normal since he played well in the World Cup. But Milan are my point of reference: should offers arrive we’ll discuss them with Milan. Ricardo has a bond to Milano and Milan: it’s not part of his character to want to leave a club like Milan just because they risk to be out of Europe. Milan’s prestige is much higher than some clubs who are part of European competitions.”

Rodriguez could arguably be a very good addition to a Premier League side’s squad ahead of next season. The defender is an exciting player, clearly not afraid to get up the pitch and contribute in the final third. He has regularly provided goals and assists, and is also more than capable of featuring in the middle of the back line if required.

And if Tottenham do end up selling any of their defenders this summer, perhaps it may not be a massive shock if he is one of the players that Pochettino or a member of his staff put forward as a potential option to consider.
