Speaking on the UMM YouTube Channel, Rhys Williams has shared what Virgil van Dijk texts the Liverpool squad before every match.
The young defender was doing an interview mainly based around the contents of his phone, and he was asked about the squad’s WhatsApp group.
Williams said that van Dijk is amongst the most vocal in the group chat, claiming that he wishes everybody luck before every game because he’s not playing.
“I’d probably say the captain or maybe Virg, because obviously he’s not been playing with his injury, so before every game he’s wishing everyone good luck and stuff like that, and the skipper is always the one who is replying first.”
Van Dijk may not be having an impact on the pitch, but it seems as though he’s still very much a part of the core group off of it.

The Dutch defender remains one of the Reds’ most integral influences in the dressing room, and we can only hope that he’s back on the pitch sooner rather than later.
It’s great to hear that van Dijk offers words of support before every game, and while Jordan Henderson is the man who wears the captain’s armband, van Dijk is seemingly every bit as much a leader.
Fingers crossed, he won’t be sending those WhatsApp’s for much longer and he’ll be back on the pitch very soon.
