Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster is battling to recover from injury.
Young striker Rhian Brewster is pushing to return from injury as quickly as possible and still hopes to make his debut this season.
Brewster has spent more than a year on the sidelines with an ankle injury, with his superb progress being halted by his lack of action.
Brewster won the golden boot as England won the under-17 World Cup last year and appeared on the cusp of a breakthrough at Anfield.
He is currently working alongside the first team, with manager Jurgen Klopp taking a close interest in his recovery.
The 18-year-old told Liverpool’s official website: “They could easily have left me at the academy to do my rehab but they wanted me to do my rehab with them, so I can’t thank them enough.
“During this injury I’ve had that, he (Jurgen Klopp) has been there from beginning to the end and to know he still wants me – even though it’s been so long – gives me a great boost.
“Every time I see him he gives me a big hug. Not only him, every time I see the players they are asking about how I am, ‘How long?’. They can’t wait for me to be back in training and hopefully make my debut this year, if not next.”
Brewster signed a long term contract with the Reds last year, which was another show of faith from the club in his talent.
The teenager adds that he is ‘finally back and fit’ and is pushing to do everything he can to make an impression.
Dominic Solanke’s exit removes one obstacle to the first team, but he must battle Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge for a back up role.
