A number of Liverpool’s youngsters enjoyed some first-team action last night as they booked their place in the next round of the EFL Cup.
Rhian Brewster has stated on Instagram that he is ‘buzzing’ to have made his senior debut for Liverpool on Wednesday night as he helped his team record a 2-0 win over MK Dons in the League Cup.
There were a number of highly-rated youngsters who were featuring for the first time in a Reds shirt, including summer capture Harvey Elliott.
Whilst Brewster didn’t get on the scoresheet, he was lively in the penalty area and he did come close to scoring on a number of occasions.
After the game, Brewster sent this message from his personal Instagram account, with Trent Alexander-Arnold simply replying ‘congrats lil bro’.
Brewster will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Alexander-Arnold and break into Liverpool’s first-team set up on a more regular basis.
It could be argued that as an attacker, it will be more difficult for Brewster to do that but he will be hoping to have some impact off the bench if Jurgen Klopp gives him the opportunity to do so.
At the weekend, Liverpool will be looking to maintain their 100% start to the season when they take on Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United.
Then, at the start of next month, Klopp’s side will be aiming to get some points on the board as they continue the defence of their Champions League crown.
