Rhian Brewster has posted on Instagram ‘the star boy is back’ after Harvey Elliott returned to Liverpool training.

The 18-year-old returned from the dislocated ankle injury he suffered in September during Liverpool’s win at Leeds.

Elliott posted a clip of himself in training, with the Liverpool first-team, as several players expressed their delight in the comments section of his Instagram message.

Given the extent of Elliott’s injury, he is probably lucky it wasn’t a lot worse and he was perhaps slightly fortunate.

There perhaps would have been some players who would have faced many more months on the sidelines, but from that aspect, Elliott has perhaps not suffered too much.

Before his injury, Elliott was flying high for Liverpool and he was being picked on a regular basis by Jurgen Klopp.

Added with that, he was starting to build a strong partnership with Mohamed Salah on the right flank.

Whilst Elliott has only returned to first-team training, it will be interesting to see how long it will take for him to return to action.

Given his age, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Reds are more cautious than usual when bringing him back up to full charge.

But, after this small winter break coming up, Liverpool’s games will come thick and fast, including Champions League action.

By then, Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita will be back, as well as Elliott adding extra depth to Liverpool’s midfield and forward line.
