Rhian Brewster and Tyler Morton react as Liverpool player confirms permanent exit

Elijah Dixon-Bonner has confirmed his exit from Liverpool on Instagram with a heartfelt post to supporters – prompting Rhian Brewster, Tyler Morton and plenty of others to react, wishing the midfielder all the best.

The 21-year-old Liverpool midfielder moved to Anfield from Arsenal back in 2015 as an academy player. He has since been a regular for the club’s Under-18, and Under-23 sides – and playing three times at senior level.

But he has failed to break into the senior side regularly and despite two of his three senior outings coming this season. his contract has not been renewed. Liverpool confirmed as much in their retained list on Thursday.

The England youth international then took to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to Liverpool and the club’s fans for his time on Merseyside. He says he fulfilled a dream by playing for a club he supporters “from birth”.

Dixon-Bonner is not the only player to leave the club. Liverpool have also confirmed that Divock Origi, Loris Karius, Ben Woodburn, Luis Longstaff and Sheyi Ojo have all left the club as free agents. Origi is set to join Milan.

It is unclear where Dixon-Bonner’s next move will be. The likelihood is that he will end up playing his football in a lower English league. His appearances for the Reds first team might convince a Championship club to take a look.

Rhian Brewster, currently playing in the Championship with Sheffield United and young Reds midfielder Morton were among those to respond to the news.
