One of the reasons Crystal Palace were so effective over the closing stages of the season is down to two people; Tony Pulis and Mile Jedinak.

The captain was superb when it came to racing around the midfield, breaking up the play and moving possession on quickly to Palace’s more creative midfield stars.

It may seem a little harsh to focus on Jedinak without a mention for Joel Ward who was equal top with his skipper in terms of the number of successful tackles made last season.

Ward stepped up when the side was under real pressure and made sensible challenges, winning possession in key areas.

Fulham’s Steve Sidwell will feel a little aggrieved that his efforts weren’t matched by his teammates, as Fulham were relegated down to the Championship.

Pablo Zabaleta also deserves a mention because of the fact he’s holding a second Premier League title winning medal in three-years. He was the Premier League’s standout right-back last season.
