Philippe Coutinho is the player substituted most frequently at Liverpool this season

Liverpool are flying in the Premier League this season, top of the table with five games remaining.

There are many cogs to their success, perhaps one of the star players behind their renaissance is Brazilian playmaker Coutinho.

The 21-year-old has four goals and six assists this campaign, with exactly half of that figure for each coming during the past 10 games.

But did you know that the star is by far Liverpool’s most substituted player this campaign?

In fact Coutinho is just one shy of the highest total in the Premier League, shared on 16 by Kevin Mirallas and Samir Nasri.

It shows that manager Brendan Rodgers is trying his best to manage Coutinho effectively, by not over-exposing him and risking burning him out.

Which, with Champions League football to balance next season, emphasises that Liverpool will need to sign another attacking midfielder to allow their squad to kick on and succeed on dual fronts.
