Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has taken to Twitter to give his thoughts on the Londoners’ disappointing loss to Monaco at Wembley, in what was his return to first team action after a suspension.
Dembele’s introduction at the beginning of the second half started a dominant period for Spurs that ultimately failed to produce the goal they needed to earn a point.
The fan favourite thanked the supporters, and shared his disappointment at the 2-1 defeat.
The Belgian international’s appearance from the bench was an obvious positive to come from the match, with the 29-year-old registering his first club minutes of the season after completing a six-match ban for his clash with Diego Costa last season.
Dembele was quickly a dominant force at Wembley, demonstrating his strength, technical quality and ability to help the midfield dominate the opposition.
He looked a little slow at times but that is to be expected in what his only football since the summer except an appearance in the second half of Belgium’s 2-0 loss to Spain at the start of the month.

One thing is clear though, and that is this Tottenham squad, and their ability to reproduce the best football of last season, is significantly heightened with Dembele’s return to the squad.
