Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side are yet to make a signing this summer.
Reto Ziegler has confirmed to the Scottish Sun that Celtic have offered him a contract.
Ziegler’s contract at FC Sion in Switzerland has expired, and Celtic are said to be keen to bring the defender in.
Real Betis have also been linked with the 31-year-old, with Ziegler currently assessing his options.
He said: “The offers from Celtic and Betis are an honour for me.
“But without wanting to sound snooty, I think I deserve it, I’ve had a good season.
“I am getting married at the weekend and if I moved to Scotland, she would want to move abroad again with me I hope!”
Ziegler is best known in Britain for the time he spent with Tottenham Hotspur earlier in his career.
The Swiss international spent three years at Spurs between 2004 and 2007, making 24 appearances.
Ziegler has since gone on to represent the likes of Juventus, Fenerbahce and Sampdoria.
If Ziegler is to move to Celtic he will likely be brought in as back-up to Kieran Tierney.
Celtic are yet to make a signing this summer, with Brendan Rodgers targeting quality over quantity this summer.
