Lee Dixon has said on BBC Radio 5 Live (9:31pm, October 22, 2021) that Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette will start against Leeds United after his performance against Aston Villa.

The former Arsenal star was impressed by the performance of Lacazette against Aston Villa on Friday night.

The France international striker started the game and helped Arsenal to a 3-1 win.

Lacazette came off the bench to score for Arsenal in their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Arsenal are back in action this coming Tuesday evening when they take on Leeds at the Emirates Stadium in the Carabao Cup.

Dixon believes that Arsenal boss Arteta is not going to drop Lacazette now.

The BBC pundit said about Lacazette: “He has brought an energy to the game again, he has linked up play, he played in that little number 10 position in the first half, and he has driven this team every time they have got the ball.

“He has been part of the attack, as you said, he hasn’t scored, but he has been involved in everything.

“He has had a good game and he will be playing next time out, rest assured about that.”

Growing in importance

Lacazette was absolutely brilliant against Villa on Friday night.

The 30-year-old worked perfectly with fellow striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the number 10 role.

The Frenchman also earned the penalty in the first half.

Lacazette’s importance in the Arsenal team is growing, and it is really hard to see Arteta drop the striker anytime soon.

In our view, Lacazette will start against Leeds on Tuesday.

Well, he simply has to.
