The Aston Villa winger was substituted after just 40 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Kevin Phillips did not hold back in his criticism of Villa ace Robert Snodgrass, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star, suggesting that any type of frustrations that a player has should always be kept in-house, rather than vented for the public to see.
The 30-year-old joined Steve Bruce’s side on a season-long loan from West Ham in the summer, and has impressed for the Villans on the whole, chipping in with two goals and two assists in 11 Championship outings thus far.
The west Midlands outfit have enjoyed a relatively successful campaign so far, with Snodgrass playing a key role in their climb up the table, and they currently sit in sixth position in the Championship table, nine points adrift of league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Phillips was not impressed with the Scotland international’s behaviour against the Owls, however, insisting that he should have vented his frustrations behind close doors rather in front of the Villa faithful, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star:
“Robert Snodgrass vented his frustration at being taken off before half-time, chucking his shinpads to the floor and hurling his strapping into the dugout. It is something I have seen a lot in my career, players reacting like that after being substituted, and I do not agree with it. When he was substituted at St Andrew’s in the Birmingham derby as well, he looked frustrated – but he was not playing well. Frustration is natural, but it should be kept in-house.”

Snodgrass and Villa now face a two-week lay-off due to the international break, before they return to action with a trip to London to take on Queens Park Rangers on Saturday November 18th.
