
Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after they found out that Daniel Levy had gifted Toby Alderweireld a leaving present.
What’s the story?
Well, Alderweireld came back to N17 for a visit on Thursday, as Spurs beat Vitesse Arnhem 3-2 in the UEFA Conference League.
Despite leaving for Al-Duhail SC in July, the Belgian has only just received a leaving gift from Levy, and it has the fans talking.
Alderweireld was presented with a watch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a gift he looks pretty pleased with.
You can see a photo of the 32-year-old beaming in delight at his gift below.
For all his errors, this was a classy touch from Levy, one which Alderweireld visibly appreciated.
The former Ajax man was a tremendous servant for Spurs, and he has been missed by Tottenham so far this season.
Should Tottenham have kept Toby Alderweireld?

At 32, Alderweireld isn’t exactly close to retirement.
In the modern age, footballers – especially centre-backs – can play to a high standard until they’re at least 35.
This perhaps wouldn’t even be a question if Spurs had a reliable centre-back partner for Cristian Romero.

However, the likes of Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon have all failed to impress this season, so it’s definitely worth discussing.
In our view, the first signing Antonio Conte should make is a new centre-back, one who is capable of replicating the immense impact Alderweireld had in north London.
