Tim Sherwood has claimed that it looks like Antonio Conte is ‘resigning’ from Tottenham following their 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Wednesday night, as he told Premier League Productions (23/02/22 at 10:45 pm).

The former Spurs boss thinks the current man in the dugout gave an ‘alarming’ interview after that loss at Turf Moor.

That win at Manchester City over the weekend looks a long, long away now because that’s four defeats in five for the London club.

After the game, Conte told Sky Sports that the club must ‘look at me’ and raised doubts over his future.

It’s not a good look, especially if you are a Spurs fan, as Sherwood shared his thoughts on Conte’s interview.

“It doesn’t look good,” said Sherwood. “It almost looks like he is resigning. Sounded like that. He wanted to have discussions with Daniel Levy and the board. It’s not good enough losing four out of five games.

“The game that they won was against the team no one could beat and it was a fantastic performance. But it’s about getting the consistency. Get your level of performance up.

“We laugh about it. But can you go there on a cold Wednesday night at Burnley, roll your sleeves up and dig it out? Top teams do. They never looked like they were going to win.

“That interview was alarming for me. I think he gets super emotional, we know that. When he wins, he is on a super high and he takes defeat very hard.”

Two trophy-laden coaches have taken to Tottenham’s dugout – Jose Mourinho and now Conte himself.

If both end up leaving without a trophy to their names, then the issues at the club have to fall at the feet of the players and those at the top.

Mauricio Pochettino helped elevate the north London club, including taking them to their first-ever Champions League final.

But for all the work the now-PSG manager did, he wasn’t backed enough compared to Tottenham’s rivals and what he was achieving out on the pitch.

And, as a result, those in the stands or those who pay their hard-earned money to watch the club, week in and week out, are now suffering for it.
