Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane started for Republic of Ireland in their 3-1 defeat to Mexico last night.

Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane does not seem to have impressed Republic of Ireland fans, after his latest display.
Hourihane was selected to start for Ireland against Mexico yesterday evening, but he could not stop his side falling to a 3-1 defeat in New York.

And Irish supporters were not best pleased with Hourihane’s display in the fixture, even though some did defend his performance.
Hourihane is yet to hit top form ever since moving to Villa in January.
The 26-year-old was a key player for Barnsley over the opening portion of the campaign, but still seems to be finding his feet at Villa Park.
Hourihane is expected to have a key role to play for Steve Bruce’s side next season, as Villa aim to earn promotion back to the Premier League at the second attempt.
Ireland fell short against Mexico, with Stephen Gleeson scoring Martin O’Neill’s side’s only goal in the fixture.
