Some Republic of Ireland fans have criticised Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen for his comments following the draw for Denmark.

Eriksen, who is one of the best and most creative players in Europe, was in action for Denmark against the Republic of Ireland at home in the European Championship Qualifying Group D on Friday evening.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg put the Danes in the lead in Denmark after 76 minutes, and Shane Duffy restored parity for Mick McCarthy’s side on 85 minutes.

The result means that Denmark are now fourth in Group D with just two points from as many matches, while the Republic of Ireland at the top of the standings with seven points from three matches.

After the match on Friday evening, Tottenham star Eriksen told Off The Ball that he did not think that the result was fair.

When asked if the result was fair, Eriksen said on Off The Ball: “Eh, no. I think It should have been a win for us. We had the chances to do it, but we weren’t sharp enough.”

Some Republic of Ireland fans were not happy with Eriksen’s comments and have criticised him on Twitter.
