A representative working for Tottenham Hotspur on behalf of the Kim Min Jae deal has admitted that he is doing his best to bring the South Korean to North London, while speaking to Asian publication Naver Sports.

Spurs are already rivalling the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United for the title of Korea’s most popular football club.

And you would imagine that those gleaming white shirts will be flying off the shelves in Seoul and beyond if the so-called ‘Korean Virgil van Dijk’ joins compatriot Heung Min Son this summer.

Kim, a 6ft 4ins giant compared to the Liverpool hero due to his formidable size and penchant for crossfield diagonals, has been linked with a move to England all summer.

And 90Min reports that Son is trying to convince Spurs chiefs to take the plunge on his highly-rated countryman; although Daniel Levy and co are only willing to pay £10 million for a player completely unproven in European football.

“I will do my best to transfer Kim Min-Jae to Tottenham,” the Spurs representative says.

“It is difficult to reveal the specifics in terms of security, but the situation is not easy. That is not a negative thing.

“Wherever Kim Min-jae goes, we will support if it is what the player wants.”

The representative adds that he has not heard anything about Lazio’s reported interest in the Beijing Guoan defender, who has 30 caps for his country at the age of just 23.

Spotv had reported that Lazio saw a £12 million bid accepted – but it seems that these claims are a little wide of the mark.

Tottenham are yet to replace Jan Vertonghen since the Belgian left for Benfica, but Jose Mourinho does still have Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga, while Eric Dier is making a smooth transition from midfield to centre-back.
