According to AS, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are interested in signing Monaco defender Guillermo Maripan this summer.
It’s claimed that Spurs have added Maripan to their wish list at centre back, with Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth potentially moving on this summer.
However, West Ham and Watford are thought to be in the race too. Additionally, Porto have aked about a potential deal for the Chilean star.
Monaco paid €18million (£16million) to sign Maripan last summer. The 6ft 4in defender had starred with Alaves, and made his move over to Ligue 1 in a big switch.
Monaco allegedly had viewed Maripan as a future €50million sale by 2021, but the global pandemic has hit those hopes. Instead, Maripan is allegedly considered a €25million to €30millon player.
That would see an English side pay around £22million to £27million. Whilst that may represent decent value in a normal market, it’s hard to imagine teams coughing up that kind of money this summer.

The pandemic means clubs will have to cut their cloth accordingly. As much as Maripan has impressed at Monaco, paying north of £20million for the 26-year-old seems unlikely in the current climate.
Maripan – a powerful, 6ft 4in defender with a real aerial presence – may still be a name to keep an eye on for whenever the transfer market opens.
