According to The Sun, Chris Wilder has told Sheffield United to go for Swansea City boss Steve Cooper as his replacement.
Wilder left his position as Blades boss last weekend, bringing an end to his dream spell in charge of the club having guided them to the Premier League after taking charge in League One.
A boyhood United fan, Wilder did a frankly unbelievable job at Bramall Lane, but has now moved on as the Blades look to prepare for life back in the Championship.
The club will now look for a replacement, and it’s claimed that they took the surprise decision of asking Wilder for a recommendation on who should succeed him.
Wilder allegedly told them to go for Cooper, who may move on if he doesn’t guide Swansea to the Premier League this season.
Cooper is attracting major interest and won’t come cheap, but Wilder is clearly impressed with what Cooper has been building down at the Liberty Stadium.

The 41-year-old has won 43 of his 93 games in charge of the Swans, and has a strong coaching background with Liverpool and in the England setup.
Cooper notably plays a 3-5-2 at Swansea, the same formation as Wilder, and that may appeal to the Blades in terms of minimising upheaval.
Add in that Cooper got the best out of Rhian Brewster at Swansea and you can see why he would appeal to United; let’s see if Wilder’s recommendation amounts to anything this summer.
