According to The Chronicle, Valentino Lazaro’s representatives now think it is ‘too late’ for Newcastle United to salvage a permanent move.
Lazaro’s situation is described as being ‘open’, but the Austrian’s reps think there is now no possibility of a stay at Newcastle having heard nothing from them.
The Magpies took Lazaro on loan from Inter Milan in January, with a view to making the move permanent come the summer.
Lazaro picked Newcastle because he felt he could play regularly there, but he managed just four Premier League starts.
The 24-year-old is seemingly not interested in staying at Newcastle as a result, and it looks like his next move is already in the pipeline.
Rheinische Post report that Lazaro is set to finalise a move to Borussia Monchengladbach in the coming days, with another loan deal likely.

Gladbach will be able to turn the deal permanent, and will be bringing Lazaro back to German football just a year since he left Hertha Berlin.
Boss Marco Rose was a coach at RB Salzburg during Lazaro’s time there, so that may explain the logic behind the move – and would kill off any lingering chance of staying at Newcastle once and for all.
