Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made their move for Giovani Lo Celso.
According to Diario de Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspur have made a €60million (£53million) move for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.
Lo Celso, 23, struggled for first-team football with Paris Saint-Germain, and was loaned out to Betis at the start of the season in order to get him playing again.
The Argentinian has enjoyed a superb campaign for Betis, smashing 16 goals in all competitions, as well as picking up six assists along the way.
Betis turned Lo Celso’s loan move into a permanent deal last month, but there’s a chance that they’ll cash in this summer to turn a quick profit.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be a huge admirer of Lo Celso, and Diario de Sevilla claim that Spurs have launched a first bid for him at £53million.
However, Betis have rejected that move, instead pursuing more money for the Argentine playmaker, closer to the €100million (£88million) release clause in his deal.
That means Spurs still have a long way to go before they can lure Lo Celso to North London, but AS have noted that Tottenham are showing the most interest in Lo Celso and feasibly lead the race.
As a technically-gifted central midfielder, Lo Celso would be a huge addition for Pochettino, providing goals and creativity – but Spurs will seemingly have to pay up big money to get him.
