According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on signing Ajax defender Sergino Dest this summer.
However, German newspaper TZ claim that Dest has a priority – and it’s to join Bundesliga giants Bayer Munich instead.
The links to Tottenham first emerged in October. Bleacher Report noted that Arsenal and Spurs had both been watching Dest ahead of a possible move.
There has been a change of direction at Spurs since then; Mauricio Pochettino left the club in November, with Jose Mourinho coming in.
Yet still, it’s thought that Spurs want Dest. The right back’s deal ends in 2022, and Tottenham may see him as competition for Serge Aurier.
Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth appear to have no future under Mourinho, so bringing in another right back – like Dest – would make some sense.

However, Dest is thought to be keen on joining Bayern Munich. TZ claim that Alvaro Odriozola won’t be kept at the club, and Dest is the favourite to come in.
He has already visited Munich, and Bayern had a January bid rejected. If Spurs are determined to sign the speedy American right back, they’ll need to put forward a major offer to change his mind about a move to Bayern.
