West Ham United could miss out on Benfica striker Nicolas Castillo.
According to Record, Mexican side Tigres are planning a big move for Benfica striker Nicolas Castillo in January – which may just leave West Ham frustrated.
Castillo, 25, became a star in Mexican football following a 2017 move to Pumas UNAM, as he smashed 24 goals in 32 games for the club.
The Chilean hitman earned a big move to Benfica this past summer off the back of those exploits, with major hopes that he could be a real success in Portuguese football.
However, Castillo’s move has become something of a nightmare, as he has made just six appearances for the club and hasn’t even registered one goal yet.
A January exit appears to be on the cards for Castillo, and Record now claim that a move back to Mexico may be in the pipeline as Tigres prepare a major bid.
That could be of interest to West Ham United and Manuel Pellegrini, as the Hammers have recently been linked with a move to lure Castillo to East London.
West Ham need another striker in January, and Record claimed that Pellegrini recently met with Castillo’s agents in order to discuss a potential move in January.
Pellegrini will be well aware of what his compatriot can do, and may well push for West Ham to move quickly and beat Tigres to his signature next month.
