Newcastle United target Peter Gulacsi is now wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to ESPN, Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in signing RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi – just months after Newcastle had hoped to sign him.
Gulacsi, 27, was on the books at Liverpool following a 2007 move from MTK Budapest in his native Hungary, but he failed to make a single appearance for the Reds.
Gulacsi, who spent time on loan with Hereford United, Tranmere Rovers and Hull City, moved on to Red Bull Salzburg in 2013, before joining sister club RB Leipzig in 2015 – and his career has taken off since then.
Now one of the Bundesliga’s top goalkeepers, Gulacsi has starred for Leipzig, helping them win a Champions League spot and a second-placed finish in the Bundesliga last season.
Intriguingly, ESPN now claim that Gulacsi is attracting interest, as Arsenal and Chelsea are understood to be interested in signing the Hungarian international in January, with both clubs weighing up their goalkeeping situations.
With Petr Cech now 35, Arsenal could line up Gulacsi as a replacement, whilst Chelsea are also keen given that he qualifies as a homegrown player in Europe from his time coming through the Liverpool ranks.
It’s just three months ago that ESPN reported Newcastle’s interest in signing Gulacsi, with manager Rafael Benitez – who managed him at Liverpool – keen to reunite and make him their first-choice goalkeeper.
However, Newcastle’s hopes of landing Gulacsi may now be dwindling given the interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, both of whom can offer European football and greater finances, with the Magpies potentially having to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper.
