Reports: Three clubs, including West Ham, interested in Victor Wanyama

Tottenham Hotspur’s Victor Wanyama could be in demand in January.

According to Tuttosport, Manchester United and West Ham United are keen on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama – and Calciomercato add that Roma are also interested.

Wanyama, 27, followed his former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham in 2016, and enjoyed a superb first season, becoming a key part of the Spurs midfield.

However, the Kenyan struggled with injuries last season and began to slip in the pecking order, with his decline continuing this season with a host of poor showings.

Now, Tuttosport report that Pochettino is ready to sell Wanyama in January if there is a suitor, and three clubs have been linked with his signature as a result.

It’s claimed that Manchester United have leapfrogged West Ham United in the race for Wanyama’s signature, with Jose Mourinho still keen despite his struggles with Spurs over the last year.

Calciomercato add that Roma are considering a whole host of midfielders for potential January moves, and Wanyama is one of them, alongside the likes of Hector Herrera and Donny van der Beek.

If Spurs do get a considerable offer for Wanyama in January, it would be little surprise to see Spurs cash in and move onto another midfielder or two, especially with Mousa Dembele’s future in doubt.

Wanyama’s decline has been something of a surprise, but Spurs can’t afford to carry passengers at this stage, and takin the money to reinvest may be the best move for all.
