The Bournemouth winger has played under Sunderland’s new manager Simon Grayson previously.

Bournemouth have rebuffed Sunderland’s attempt to loan winger Max Gradel, according to The Daily Mail.

Gradel played under new Sunderland manager Simon Grayson at Leeds United and looked to be on his way out of Bournemouth after failing to start any of his 11 Premier League outings last season.

Nevertheless, The Daily Mail reports that the Cherries – who have taken their tally of recognised wide players to seven following Connor Mahoney’s arrival from Blackburn Rovers – are fighting to keep hold of Gradel after he scored in Saturday’s friendly win against Estoril.

But according to The Sun, French side Toulouse – who The Daily Mail reports were also snubbed by Bournemouth – have returned with a fresh offer for Gradel.

It is claimed that Toulouse want to loan the 29-year-old with an option to buy him outright next summer, with Sunderland reportedly set to miss out.

Sunderland have already signed one new winger this summer in Everton’s Aiden McGeady, and may look to prioritise other positions first, for example, in goal.
