Tottenham Hotspur are showing a real interest in snapping up Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer.

Conor Gallagher is a wanted man with both Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion now interested.

Football London report that Tottenham ‘hold an interest’ in bringing Gallagher to North London this summer.

It’s suggested that Newcastle United are now looking at other options having previously wanted Gallagher.

Tottenham may struggle to do a deal with Chelsea though, given the rivalry between the two clubs.

Spurs also face rival interest with Brighton and Hove Albion now interested.

TalkSPORT report that the Seagulls are keen on Gallagher and Chelsea are willing to sell him this summer.

The Blues need to raise some funds and may now offload Gallagher to help fund some signings for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Mirror (04/06, p77) reported that Pochettino is a fan of Gallagher but is ready to reluctantly sell him this summer.

How would Conor Gallagher fit in for Tottenham?

Tottenham need homegrown players so Gallagher certainly fits the summer plans alongside David Raya and James Maddison.

Looking at the way Ange Postecoglou set up his midfield at Celtic, Gallagher wouldn’t really be the number six in front of the defence.

Maybe Gallagher could feature in a playmaking role like Aaron Mooy or Matt O’Riley did for Celtic, but he may be better suited to a box-to-box role.

Reo Hatate operated in that kind of role under Postecoglou at Celtic and chipped in with nine goals and 11 assists.

Gallagher can certainly provide that goal threat and may fit into Postecoglou’s midfield alongside a natural creator like fellow target James Maddison.

Hailed as ‘fantastic’ by former Chelsea boss Graham Potter, Gallagher needs to be starting games and those opportunities may be hard to come by amid Chelsea’s influx of signings.

Tottenham will now hope to bring Gallagher into a re-shaped midfield under Postecoglou, but those relations with Chelsea will be the key factor.
