Mbwana Samatta could be heading for the Aston Villa exit door, with a club in Turkey keen on his services, according to reports.
Turkish outlet FotoSpor have claimed that Besiktas want to sign the Aston Villa striker, who only joined the Midlands outfit in January.
Added with that, the Daily Mail are also reporting that Samatta is one of a number of players who will be axed by the club after they survived relegation on the last day of the Premier League season.
If Samatta does leave then it would be a ruthless call by Dean Smith, who purchased the player from Genk during the January transfer window when the club were short on strikers.
In truth, the 27-year-old has been dealt a bad hand because when he first walked into Villa Park, they had just been smashed for six by Manchester City and he was making his debut in a League Cup semi-final against Leicester City.
Whilst the Tanzania hero did score on his Premier League debut against Bournemouth, and in the League Cup final, he failed to find the back of the net again and was especially off-colour in the final third when football restarted in June.
But then again, he did walk into the team mid-way through the season, he walked into a side struggling badly, low on form and confidence.
Plus, there wasn’t much experience around him, so he didn’t have the calm heads in the squad to allow him to bed in.
There’s no doubt that Smith made the right call in bringing Ollie Watkins through the door, but if anyone was in Samtta’s position, they would feel that too much was asked of them and they still need more time to prove themselves.
