Rangers are still looking to bring a young defender to Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are set to launch a new bid to sign Oldham defender George Edmundson after failing with one offer.
The Gers have already secured three signings for next season, with Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie and Steven Davis all signing on pre-contract agreements.
However, with loanee Joe Worrall heading back to Nottingham Forest and out-of-contract Gareth McAuley poised to leave on a free transfer.
A youngster to replace Worrall would make sense, and Oldham ace Edmundson has emerged as a top target having impressed for the Latics this season.
The Scottish Sun now report that, after Rangers failed with their first bid earlier this week, they’re now preparing to return with a new offer.
Edmundson, 21, stands at 6ft 3in tall and has earned comparisons to former Oldham talent James Tarkowski, and Rangers would no doubt love to end up with a player of Tarkowski’s quality.

Sky Sports now claim that Edmundson is handing in a transfer request to try and force a move, but Oldham want £1million for him – twice what Rangers offered.
The Express also note that Hearts ace John Souttar remains on the Rangers radar, but the Scot seems to be a much more expensive alternative if Edmundson can’t be landed.
