According to Sky Germany and Het Laatste Nieuws, Rangers are set to miss out on Heidenheim midfielder Niklas Dorsch as he prepares to make a move to Gent.
It’s claimed that Dorsch is on the verge of a move to Belgium, with final talks being held between the player and Gent.
Gent have made their move for Dorsch thanks to a release clause in his deal, with the German set to move for around €3.5million (£3.1million).
Dorsch and Heidenheim missed out on promotion on Monday night, drawing 2-2 with Werder Bremen in the second leg of their promotion playoff.
Heidenheim missed out on promotion due to the away goals rule, and it seemed inevitable that he would be moving on as a result.
Some thought that he would be heading to Rangers. InFranken reported in May that Rangers were battling Hamburg for Dorsch’s signature, with Hamburg also keen.

After Hamburg missed out on promotion, there was a belief in the Rangers fanbase that Dorsch would end up at Ibrox this summer.
However, Gent have now swooped in for the 22-year-old, and unless Rangers can launch a late hijack attempt, it looks like they will miss out.
