According to The Telegraph, Jose Mourinho hasn’t given up hope of bringing Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Liverpool Echo add that Hojbjerg has now made it clear to Everton that he wants to join Tottenham instead of the Toffees.
This saga really took some turns last night; The Daily Mail claimed that Everton had a £25million bid for Hojbjerg accepted, with the Daily Echo adding that Hojbjerg has even been to Everton’s Finch Farm training ground and agreed personal terms.
It looked like Tottenham had missed out on Hojbjerg, but these more recent reports may just give Spurs fans hope that all is not lost.
Everton have allegedly made it clear to Hojbjerg that they want him, but the Dane has told them on at least two occasions that he wants to join Tottenham instead.
Everton kept moving forward in the hope of convincing him, but Hojbjerg’s stance is that he wants to play for Jose Mourinho – not Carlo Ancelotti, the man who sold him at Bayern Munich in 2016.

Tottenham now need to come up with an offer of their own. Mourinho doesn’t have big money to spend, and his hopes have been hit as Southampton won’t take Kyle Walker-Peters as part of a deal.
Whilst they’re interested in Walker-Peters following a successful loan spell, they want the two deals to be kept completely separate.
Just how Tottenham will fund a deal remains to be seen, but the 24-year-old ace wants to join them – and missing out in that scenario would be difficult to stomach.
