Liverpool striker Divock Origi seemingly won’t be heading to Newcastle or Tottenham this week.

According to The Telegraph, Liverpool won’t let Divock Origi join Newcastle on loan due to a disagreement over planned playing time, whilst the Daily Mail claim that they won’t sell to Tottenham due to them being a top Premier League rival.
Liverpool have been fending off interest in star man Philippe Coutinho, and whilst the Brazilian may now stay, speculation also surrounds the future of forward Origi.
The 22-year-old signed for Liverpool from Lille back in the summer of 2014, with the Reds suitably impressed with his performances for Belgium at the World Cup in Brazil, but they loaned him straight back to Lille for the 2014/15 season.

Now, Origi has notched 21 goals in 77 games for Liverpool, but has been on the fringes of the side under Jurgen Klopp, struggling to beat out the likes of Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge, whilst summer signing Dominic Solanke may also be ahead of him in the pecking order having shown promise since arriving from Chelsea.
Origi could leave Anfield before Thursday’s transfer deadline, but two Premier League rivals appear to have been ruled out of the race to sign the Belgian international this week.
The Telegraph report that Newcastle United approached Liverpool about a loan deal for Origi last week, with Rafael Benitez looking to add another striker even after landing Spaniard Joselu from Stoke City earlier this month.

However, it’s claimed that Newcastle couldn’t guarantee that he would be an every-week starter under Benitez, and that didn’t sit well with Liverpool, meaning talks ended there and having been continued since.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claim that Tottenham have also been ruled out, as Liverpool don’t want to sell Origi to a top Premier League rival, with Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino both battling for top four places this season.
Whilst Origi would have been great cover for Harry Kane, it now seems that a move to North London is off the table – and Origi may be hoping that another club will come forward and strike a deal for him, giving him a chance to play first-team football ahead of the World Cup.
