Arsenal may not be able to sign players, but they can sell them – and midfielder Mohamed Elneny is attracting interest from Galatasaray.

The transfer window for incoming signings is now over for English clubs, but sides in Russia and Turkey can still make incoming moves.

Turkey could be a route out of Arsenal for midfielder Mohamed Elneny, but Arsenal are standing firm as things stand.

There have been a couple of updates on Elneny today; the first came from Sky Sports, with presenter Jasper Taylor stating on air this afternoon that Galatasaray have come back in with new contact over a deal for Elneny.

Now, Football.London have added to the story by claiming that Arsenal have rejected an offer from Galatasaray for the Egyptian international.

Elneny currently has a ‘minor muscular injury’ and Mikel Arteta is described as being ‘a fan’ of the former Basel star.

Intriguingly though, this report does suggest that Arsenal may be willing to sell Elneny for the right price after deciding to keep hold of Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Elneny is vital cover for Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga, but Maitland-Niles can offer that backup option in midfield when needed.

Another Turkish club – most likely Besiktas, where Elneny spent time on loan – have also made a move for Elneny.

Arsenal now need to decide whether it’s worth the risk to sell Elneny given that they can’t replace him until January at the earliest unless there is a free agent Edu likes.
