According to SPORT, Arsenal are ‘one step away’ from signing Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard on loan.
It’s claimed that Odegaard has become ‘fed up’ at Real Madrid, and doesn’t understand why he isn’t playing more this season.
Odegaard has asked to leave Real, and Arsenal are thought to be favourites to land him despite rival interest from Real Sociedad.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Sociedad, bagging seven goals and nine assists for the La Liga side, but ‘everything seems to indicate’ that he is heading to Arsenal.
Additionally, Sky Sports report that Leicester City had made a move for Odegaard, but after holding talks, they decided not to pursue a deal.
That leaves Arsenal as the leading contenders to take Odegaard to England, giving Arteta what would be a major addition.

Emile Smith Rowe has impressed in an attacking midfield role of late, but adding another creative and versatile threat like Odegaard on loan for the rest of the season makes sense.
Who knows, if the Norwegian impresses at Arsenal, he may have a chance at landing a permanent move to North London, with his Real Madrid career still yet to really get going.
