According to Goal, Marko Grujic is enthused about playing in the Champions League this season – and will be playing against Liverpool’s rivals Manchester City.
Liverpool confirmed on Tuesday night that Grujic has left Anfield having joined Porto on a season-long loan deal.
Porto lost Danilo Pereira to Paris Saint-Germain on Monday, meaning they needed a big, physical presence in midfield – and its Grujic they’ve gone for on loan.
There is no permanent option in the deal, meaning the Serbian will return to Anfield next summer as he heads out on loan once again.
Since becoming Jurgen Klopp’s first Liverpool signing back in January 2016, Grujic has been out on loan at Red Star Belgrade, Cardiff City and twice at Hertha Berlin, without really pushing him closer to the first team at Liverpool.
A permanent move to Werder Bremen failed to materialise on deadline day, so Liverpool have resigned themselves to sending Grujic on loan given that he was unlikely to be named in their Premier League squad.

Grujic will now face Manchester City in the Champions League, and he is allegedly ‘enthused’ about the idea of testing himself in Europe’s premier club competition and against Liverpool’s rivals.
The Liverpool Echo claim that the move was ‘sudden’ and moved quickly when it became clear how much Porto wanted Grujic, with the midfielder keen to play games rather than sit on the sidelines at Liverpool.
