According to Sky Sports (10:21), Liverpool are trying to rush through a deal to sign Schalke defender Ozan Kabak.
It’s claimed that preparations are underway for Kabak to undergo a medical in Germany today, with Liverpool pushing for his signature.
The deal is described as ‘complicated’, because Schalke want to sign a replacement before letting Kabak go – and they only have until 5pm GMT.
Schalke do know who they want, but a deal can’t be guaranteed there yet. Liverpool’s move would be a loan fee of £2.5million with the option of a permanent move.
What’s interesting is that Liverpool already have a centre back on the way in to Anfield, with Preston’s Ben Davies on the verge of joining.
Yet Liverpool still want Kabak, and have swooped in after Newcastle United backed away from signing him according to the Daily Mail.

Newcastle couldn’t afford to sort out a deal for Kabak, but Liverpool have now swooped in and are looking to rush through a move.
The 20-year-old has impressed in Germany with Stuttgart and now Schalke, and can join Davies in offering depth to Jurgen Klopp’s famously injury-ravaged centre back options.
