Everton are also keen on the Barcelona striker, but West Ham United must do all they can to convince him to choose them over the Toffees.
Barcelona’s Munir El Haddadi celebrates
Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo are reporting this morning that the Hammers are interested in signing Barca star Munir, with the La Liga side willing to sell the Spaniard for around £10 million, and he would be an outstanding addition to Slaven Bilic’s squad, if the Croatian can persuade him to choose them over Everton.
Ronald Koeman is also reportedly keen on signing the 21-year-old, and the fact that they can offer the youngster European football could give them the advantage in the race for his signature.
West Ham must do all they can to tempt the Barca man into choosing east London over Merseyside, however, with the opportunity to sign a forward of real quality for such a reasonable price being such a rare occurrence nowadays.
Munir in action for Barca
The Hammers are desperately lacking in the forward department, what with Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho’s persistent injury problems, and Andre Ayew failing to live up to his hefty price-tag.
The addition of an accomplished striker will be of paramount importance to their hopes of enjoying a successful Premier League campaign next term, and Munir could be just the man for the job.
He spent the season on loan at Valencia this season, scoring seven goals, and whilst he is not the most prolific of forwards, his technical ability and intelligent use of the football would be a fantastic asset to West Ham.
Munir celebrates with Dani Alves
If Carroll is fit and firing, Munir would be the ideal foil for the 6ft 4in Geordie, and the pair could strike up a fearsome partnership, spearheading the Hammers attack.
The Barca star would arguably have more chance of regular first-team action at the London Stadium than he would at Goodison Park, so that could be enough to sway the scales in West Ham’s favour.
Whilst it will be a hard task for Bilic to attract someone of Munir’s calibre to the Hammers, he and the West Ham board must do all they can to make it happen, and if they do manage to secure the Spaniard’s services, it could turn out to be one of the best pieces of business they have done in recent years.
