Newcastle United’s move for Joelinton his hit a late hitch.

According to Sport1 in Germany, Newcastle United’s talks with Hoffenheim striker Joelinton have hit a late stumbling block, over the length of contract.
The Magpies appointed Steve Bruce as Rafael Benitez’s successor on Wednesday, and must now equip him with a new striker after losing Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez.
Joelinton has become the top target, and he was left out of Hoffenheim’s pre-season friendly with Jahn Regensburg yesterday to hold talks with the Magpies.
Kicker reported yesterday that the fee involved is a huge €40million (£36million), a new club record for Newcastle, but there may be a late problem.
Sport1 claim that Joelinton only wants to sign a three-year deal with the club, whereas Newcastle are pushing for him to sign a four-year contract – and that disagreement is holding the move up.
One side will seemingly have to budge to get a deal done, and it seems that Newcastle are understandably pursuing a longer-term deal given the money they’re forking out.

Sport1 were the first German outlet to report Newcastle’s interest in Joelinton, way back in February, so they may well be well-informed on the situation surrounding the Brazilian striker.
The 22-year-old hit seven goals and five assists last season, and whilst he would be a great addition to the Newcastle attack, this contract situation needs to be sorted to get the deal over the line.
