Hull City are reportedly joining the race to sign Motherwell winger Jake Hastie.
According to The Scottish Sun, Hull City are joining the race to sign Motherwell winger Jake Hastie after his blistering run of form.
Hastie, 19, has come up through the Motherwell ranks having joined back in 2009, and he is now become one of Scottish football hottest properties.
The winger only returned from a loan spell at Alloa Athletic in January, but has now hit five goals in his last six games having scored the opener against Hearts on Sunday.
A pacey, well-built winger with a great left foot, Hastie is now attracting interest given that his contract at Fir Park expires this summer.
The Scottish Sun now report that Hull are keen to bring Hastie to the KCOM Stadium this summer if he doesn’t agree a new contract soon.
This fresh report of Hull’s interest comes just weeks after the Daily Record noted that Leeds United and Sunderland are among the clubs to have taken a look at the teenager winger recently.
However, The Scottish Sun claim that Leeds are all set to sign a different Motherwell winger, with 16-year-old Stuart McKinstry allegedly nearing a £400,000 move to Elland Road.
With McKinstry inbound, it doesn’t really make much sense to sign Hastie too, as it would potentially stunt the development of one of them, especially as Leeds have a young winger of their own in Jack Clarke.
For that reason, Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t exactly need Hastie right now, and challenging Hull for his signature shouldn’t be a top priority unless there’s a hitch in the McKinstry deal.
