West Ham United may face competition for Duvan Zapata.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Atalanta are willing to sell striker Duvan Zapata for around €50million (£43.75million) this summer, but Inter Milan may now challenge West Ham United.
Zapata, 27, joined Atalanta on loan from Sampdoria last summer, but he can join permanently – and that deal looks set to take place this summer.
The Colombian has been in stunning form this season, hitting 19 goals in 26 games, including 17 goals in his last 13 outings for the Serie A side.
Zapata’s exploits haven’t gone unnoticed, as Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported that West Ham failed with a €40million (£35million) bid for the striker in January.
Now, Tuttomercatoweb report that Atalanta are prepared to sell Zapata for more than £43million this summer, cashing in once they make his loan move permanent.
Yet West Ham aren’t alone; it’s noted that Inter Milan are also interested, because they need another striker in light of the saga surrounding Mauro Icardi.
With Icardi stripped of the captaincy and looking set to leave this summer, Zapata is believed to be a top target for Inter, alongside Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku.
That means West Ham have to move quickly if they want Zapata, and they are within £9million of landing him based on their January bid – but they would be wise to see if his form is anything more than a purple patch.
